CV-Artsmart Review: Easily Import Illustrator Files

Cineversity’s CV-Artsmart Plugin is going to change the way you work with Illustrator files in Cinema 4D. The plugin is written by Maxon’s own Rick Barrett and is available FREE for everyone.  CV-Artsmart works with Adobe Illustrator to easily import files without having to go in and save them out as Illustrator 8 files, It works with most versions of Illustrator, including CS6.

Check out the review of CV-Artsmart below, if you want the short version – Download it right now. It’s a huge time saver if you ever work with Illustrator files.

To download this incredible plugin just head on over to Cineversity.  Just keep in mind that you’ll need to create a free Cineversity account if you don’t already have one.

If you need a refresher on how to install plugins or it’s the first time you’ve installed a plugin in Cinema 4D, don’t worry. It’s really easy.

If you’re on a Mac just go to Applications > Maxon > Cinema 4D (version whatever) > plugins and then drop the CV-ArtSmart file that you downloaded right in there.  A quick way to navigate there is to just right click on the C4D icon in your dashboard and click Options > Show in Finder – it will bring you right to the Cinema 4D folder.

On a PC it is just as simple, just navigate to your Cinema 4D folder and drop it right in the plugins folder. Just remember that if you already have C4D open that you’ll have to restart it before it will see it.

If you’re just learning Cinema 4D or are a student and need some logos to play around with, I suggest you check out Brands of the World.  That site is filled with many different Adobe Illustrator logos that you can download to put this plugin to the test. One thing to keep in mind is that some of the logos on that site are saves as .eps files, so you will need to re-save them out as .AI files to use with CV-Artsmart.
