AE Quick Tip – Useful Hot keys
I think it’s safe to say that anyone here has touched After Effects at least once, hell, maybe you’ve been a professional for years. There are so many hot keys for these programs it’s impossible to know them all. Here we’ve compiled a list of useful After Effects hotkeys that just might save you some time or headache in the future.
Useful After Effects Hot Keys
“B” to set the in point of your composition.
“N” to set the out point of your composition.
If you load in a new layer and make it 3d but it jumps far away from your camera and you can’t find it, right click on the layer and go to “Transform” > “Center in Viewer” to put it right in front of the camera.
“Home” or “End” to jump to the beginning or end of your composition.
“Shift” + “Home” or “End” to jump to the in or out point of your composition.
Hold “Command” while scrubbing to hear audio.
Use the Pan behind tool to move footage that’s been trimmed while not moving the in and out points.
Use the Pan behind tool to move a layer that has a mask on it without moving the mask around with it.
“Command “+ “Option” + “V” paste in place.
“Command” + “Alt” + “Shift” + left arrow or right arrow to jump to the layer in and out point.
“`” (the button right above the “tab” key) to make whatever panel your mouse is over fullscreen.
